Welcome to TheAppWhisperer’s new section, “what apps are we using this month” series, where we discover which apps you are particularly enjoying. Kicking us off today is non-other than Award Winning Mobile Artist, Marco Prado.
Thank you Joanne for asking me to participate in What Apps Are We Using This Month?
Hello , My name is Marco Prado, I’m a Mobile photographer/Artist . I currently live in Philadelphia/ USA . A bit about myself ….
For the past three years , my creative process has shifted. My interest in mobile photography began about 13 years ago . The apps available were limited, but soon there was an avalanche of new apps to be explored. Some of them were absolutely great editing tools. Out of the blue, they disappeared , leaving us in the dark, also pushing us to find new editing tools .
Fast forward 10 years, I find myself more of a minimalist , in terms of using apps, and focusing more on the story telling aspect of the creative process. My creativity is driven by my intuition , the mysterious mind and the places that it takes me. Every piece has its own shape, form and depth.
I use a multi layered process of random images . The blending of two images that are complete opposites, reveals a new reality that resonates with previous internal experiences. As the creative process continues through more blending , I start to focus on color, shape, depth and light . I then add some characters that represent the connection with that world just revealed . It’s a surreal experience that encompasses a multi dimensional journey.
I use a multitude of cameras, depending on what I want to achieve as a final piece. Cameras: Native cam Blackie, Hipstamatic, Slow shutter, Reflex, Spectre Apps: Procreate, Snapseed, iColorama, Leonardo, Superimpose X. I’ve been using the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPad Pro as my studio editing tool.
My go to app is always Procreate . I start a new canvas and add, background color. From there I start blending random images and finding what is revealed, then I get the direction where to go. Most of the creative process happens in the Procreate app. Once I have the final piece, I go to iColorama. I developed a recipe while using that app, it gives me the right tools for what I need. Then I fine tune in Snapseed . The other apps like Leonardo and Superimpose X are also used when a specific detail is needed. I truly enjoy the process and am very thankful for the developers .
